First, if you're new to affiliate marketing, some preliminary explanations may prove helpful in your quest for becoming a part-time or full-time affiliate marketer.
What is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate marketing is quite simple to explain: you promote and market a product or company in return for a commission if a sale or lead is made from your marketing efforts. With online affiliate marketing you simply place your affiliate ID embedded links on your web pages and if a customer clicks your link and proceeds to that designated company's site and makes a purchase or signs up for a service, you earn a commission.
Affiliate marketing, if done right, can prove to be a very lucrative venture. Commissions can run anywhere from a few pennies to thousands of dollars for just one click or sale. Professional marketers develop affiliate relationships with hundreds of companies and build sites to promote these companies and products.
Needless to say, the advent of the Internet has been a golden opportunity for affiliate marketers to really expand their promotions and marketing. As more as more customers choose to buy online, advertising and purchases keep increasing at a maddening pace.
To accommodate all this online ecommerce we have seen the birth of large affiliate networks, operated by large corporations. Make no mistake, affiliate marketing is big business, accounting for billions in sales and commissions.
What is an Affiliate Network?
An affiliate network is a third party facilitator which brings affiliates and companies together. It connects Advertisers (companies with products or services to sell) together with Publishers (those who display and promote these products or services) so they can do business. The affiliate network does all the tracking, accounting and payment of commissions.
The following Top 10 list of the best Affiliate Networks is compiled by an actual full-time affiliate marketer who has worked these programs for over five years. This list is subjective and based on first-hand experience. It should be seen in this light and every marketer probably will have a different list or have these in a different picking order depending on the type and nature of their marketing.
But this list of the 10 Best Affiliate Networks will give you a general rundown on these affiliate networks and how they operate.
1. Commission Junction (www.cj.com)
Now owned by ValueClick, Commission Junction was one of the first affiliate networks. It is also one of the most important with many of the Top Fortune 500 companies listed here.
CJ is an international network with excellent stats and tracking (some of the best you will find), along with regular monthly payments makes this the obvious first choice for anyone wishing to try affiliate marketing. For those new or old at affiliate marketing, CJ also holds regular seminars and training sessions.
Most merchants offer pay-per-lead or pay-per-sale, one of the best features is the performance bonuses and incentives. As most experienced marketers will know, selling 50k to 100k each month for merchants will bring in the big incentives or bonuses.
Commissions run as high as 50% but most are in 3% to 15% range. You have the option of direct deposit for your payments. One major plus, CJ will tell you which merchants and ads are earning the most revenue for affiliates so you can easily choose which merchants are worth promoting.
2. ClickBank (www.clickbank.com)
ClickBank is another professional affiliate network with excellent stats and tracking. Easy to use and pays every two weeks.
ClickBank is slightly different from the other networks in that it deals mainly with digital download products. The commissions from ClickBank are usually much higher than the other networks, around 40% to 50% or more.
ClickBank has over 10,000 products but keep in mind, info-marketing products will have stiff competition from all the savvy and well established Internet marketers promoting these same products. Consider youself warned!
The most successful marketing tactic here is to first dominate your targeted niche with your blogs and sites, then find affiliate products to match your content or niche subject matter, whether it be gardening equipment, gaming laptops or Mediterranean cruises!.
3. LinkShare (www.linkshare.com)
LinkShare is another excellent affiliate network. It is one of the oldest affiliate networks on the web. LinkShare was recently acquired by the Japanese Portal Rakuten, with a price tag of $425 million.
Very good stats and reporting with their Synergy Analytics system. Many Top Fortune 500 companies are presented here so you will no trouble finding products and services to promote. LinkShare pays commissions as they receive them from merchants - monthly checks.
4. Affiliate Window (www.affiliatewindow.com)
Affiliate Window is an UK based affiliate network which offers top brand companies and good commission rates. Pays once a month and has excellent stats.
Savvy affiliate marketers know promoting in other countries can be much easier than promoting in the American market place. Mainly because these other countries haven't become saturated with online marketers, little competition means more sales.
5. Amazon (www.amazon.com)
Amazon is another excellent affiliate network to join if you want to sell products from your site or blog. Amazon has excellent stats and the links are very easy to create and place on your web pages.
You also have the option of creating your own store with Amazon aStores. Amazon also now has context link ads and Widgets!
Commission rates are somewhat lower than the other networks but making sales thru Amazon is much, much easier. You will make more sales mainly because Amazon is a well known and trusted online company. Amazon now pays monthly.
6. Shareasale (www.shareasale.com)
Shareasale is yet another easy system to work with good stats and simple to create links. With 1,700+ merchants to choose from, Shareasale is another good affiliate network to promote.
The control panel is easy to use and the reporting is very good. Usually pays the month following your sales.
7. Google (www.google.com/adsense/)
Many won't think of Google as an Affiliate network but it does run affiliate products thru its Adsense program. Very few products but like everything from Google it is professionally run and top caliber all the way.
Please note, top marketers know affiliate links/products on their content pages will return 10 times what Google Adsense will give them. However, these marketers will also know using Google Adsense on less targeted pages throughout your sites or blogs will give you a healthy return.
Besides receiving that monthly check from a multi-billion dollar company like Google will put a smile on your face every time.
8. LinkConnector (www.linkconnector.com)
LinkConnector is a relatively new affiliate network which launched in 2004. It has Pay Per Click, Pay Per Sale and Pay Per Lead. Good stats and reporting. Worth checking out for their different types of new affiliate technology such as Direct Linking which passes pagerank along to the merchant's site.
9. CPA Empire (www.cpaempire.com)
Great CPA (Cost Per Action) network especially if you do a lot of email marketing and promotions. Geared towards acquiring leads and sign-ups but does offer other merchants as well. Good stats and reporting.
10. Independents
Individual affiliate deals with different companies which may or may not be listed with the major networks above. Your independent affiliate deals will be some of your most lucrative since you can sometimes work out separate private commission rates and bonuses. Aim for residual income here. Don't ignore this aspect of affiliate marketing as it will pay the highest dividends.
Keep in mind, all the above affiliate networks are middlemen, they come between you and the merchant you're promoting. For affiliates with a proven track record, who have shown they can deliver the customers and sales, a private deal cutting out the middleman/fees can prove very beneficial for both parties. If you're fortunate enough to become known as a super affiliate, these private deals will become more common and more profitable.
Professional affiliate marketers use all of the above networks to create multiple income streams from their marketing efforts. In the process, they build a healthy monthly income for themselves and their families. There is no reason why you can't do the same.

Search Engine Optimization Using Social Media Optimization
Copyright © 2007 Allen Thomason
Social media optimization is a great derivative of search engine optimization that offers integrating changes to websites and blogs immediately and allows better linking of the sites to its affiliates. This focuses on increasing the visibility of sites that are generated by social media searches. Social media motimization also allows frequent updates of posts on vlogs, pod casts, and blogs. Facebook, del.icio.us and Digg are popular examples of Social Media Sites.
Social media optimization actually helps a blog/site to increase its link-ability. Many webmasters are reluctant about making their sites/blogs up to date. Updating content and providing readers with contemporary content is vital in social media optimization. You can create a new blog that draws in new prospects with similar minds or just incorporate and organize the content that is scattered here and there in the web for optimized viewing on a typical niche topic.
Helping your content to be mobile i.e. to be able to reach the target audience as soon as it is updated or modified, actually helps your visitors get the best and latest out of you and the world around in no time, with no extra effort. You can make this possible through RSS feeds. Using portable contents like PDF, video and audio files are the best ways to make your information reachable to all clients. Submit your content and information to all the sites that expose them to greater audience and thereby increasing linking to your sites more and more.
Sharing your content with others and letting others use relevant portions of the same could actually help you in content syndication. Co-creation of content makes it more resourceful and usable by many others operating in similar domains. This augments traffic to all the similar bloggers with similar content and powerful information delivery systems.
If you want your site to be remembered, why not create automated tools that to make this process simple for your prospects and clients. They would love to save you in their favorites or bookmark typical information for future reference. Social Media Optimization increases the scope of tagging and book marking relevant web pages and /or content. Tagging your pages to social book marking sites helps to increase the popularity of your site and makes it more visible to many interested bloggers in the similar domain.
Inbound links are functional to rank you high in the search engine results, which is the indicator of a successful and proper revenue generating blog and fundamental principle for search engine optimization. People who link to you will be doing this to ensure that linking to you is more profitable to enhance traffic flow on a mutual basis. Listing all the blogs that have established recent links offer the reward of visibility to those who have linked up with you. Maintaining a Web log on your blog lists all the visitors that have visited you and this makes them visible to the search engines to assess rankings.
Bloggers community is another effective way of social media optimization to facilitate search engine optimization criteria. Creating your profile and linking up with people that have similar interests helps to make you and your product more transparent and visible. Others would also be interested to promote or spread a message about your product if it means adding value to their own business as well. Social media marketing thrives on this mutual co-operation and support.
Wait until others notice you or service and your product gets optimum reference from others. The main inspiration of social Media optimization is to move beyond search engine optimization, attach value to your brand through social networking, and get it certified by similar minds. If you can do this successfully, you will not have to worry about your marketing success.

Internet Marketing Takes the "Fear" out of Selling!
Most of us wish we could control our destiny. We want to choose a business model which gives us the least headaches and the maximum returns. One of the things you need to realize from the very beginning is internet marketers are competing in cyberspace with other similar businesses for the same end result: sales. So, how do you get a jump on the competition? You need some excellent attention grabbing phrases; ones that virtually guarantee potential customers' curiosity will be aroused when they see your site.
1) You must catch your readers attention immediately.
So, how does one do this? I would venture to say, it is easy. Think of it this way, if you were hungry for some pie, and you pass a vegetable stand, your interest would not be peaked. But if you instead found yourself driving by a "Delicious Pies R-US" store, and it said, "come get your fresh baked warm from the oven slice of heaven!", you would steer your car into the store and buy a piece of pie, right? The same works for Internet Marketing. One only needs to be equipped with the tools necessary to succeed in an online business, and he is bound to get what his heart desires. The right tools will propel you forward and allow you to taste success. Attention grabbing words and phrases will do this for your site. Make sure to include them in the first one or two lines on your website.
2) You must build a mailing list.
This is the basis of all internet marketing. The only thing you need is a product and traffic to your website. Some experts would say, you don't even need a product because you can sell other people's products. So all you really need to be successful is traffic -people visiting your website. The easiest way to get traffic is to have a list of people who want to hear what you have to say. This means building an opt-in list of subscribers who you can direct to your websites to earn money. By using attention grabbing capture pages, enticing your readers to opt-in will generate a large mailing list for future advertising.
3.) You must be knowledgeable about your product.
If you don't have an interest in your product, then why should you expect anyone else to care? Become an expert in your field. Do research on-line. Read books, and most importantly, have passion about your business, as buyers are truly buying "you" more than they are buying your product or service.
Prospects actually seeking you out and wanting to hear what you have to offer is crucial to your success in marketing online. It's the only way you are really going to succeed because once you have people wanting to hear what you have to offer, now you are in control and the question of how to sell your product, and marketing without fear then becomes obsolete.

How Affiliate Marketing Can Benefit Your Site
Running a website can be an expensive business. There are webhosting fees, the cost of a domain name, bandwidth costs, and of course the time you put into it.
But there is an easy way to earn some money back, and make your website more attractive to visitors at the same time.
Affiliate marketing is simple. You chose a product to promote. You get a special ‘affiliate link' that leads to the product website. You put this link somewhere on your site, and every time someone buys a product through it you get a percentage of the money. Simple!
And the great thing is, whatever your site is about, there's bound to be a product you can sell linked to it.
Say you run a history site, with articles aimed at students. All you have to do is sign up to Amazon's affiliate program, and make money when they buy books. The same can be done with CDs, clothes, make-up, cars, holidays…anything. Whatever your site is about, simply Google the topic alongside ‘affiliate programs'. You'll find something. Another option is to visit Commission Junction, which will give you access to thousands of different products.
It's important that you choose the right one. Don't just choose the most expensive option. Remember that cheaper goods sell in higher quantities. At the same time, choose something too cheap and you won't make the kind of money that it's possible to earn.
Make sure that whatever you choose is relevant. It has to relate to the topic your visitors have just been reading about. One of the most effective ways to do this is to have a section of your website for reviews. At the bottom of each review, put a link to the product you've just been writing about.
Another option is to write about a hobby, and then link to the supplies they'll need. You might like carpentry, or dress-making. Find an affiliate program on a website that sells equipment.
A third option, if your site is informational, is to find an affiliate program for an informational product, such as a book. Write a brief article that will titillate interest in the subject, and then link to a product that will tell the reader more.
And this also makes your site more attractive to visitors.
Visitors like being able to find out more. They also like being told which products are good to buy. Your website has just got them interested in something. The product you're linking to will help them find out more.
They also appreciate the recommendation. After all, nowadays there are so many products that it can be impossible choosing what to buy. Link to a product that will help them and you might even find yourself receiving thank-you e-mails!
All you do is find a product relevant to your site and link to it, along with a few words telling visitors why they'll be interested. This is actually the most effective way of selling a product. The visitor is already interested – otherwise why would they be reading your site? – and your recommendation is more effective than any sales pitch. Because you've helped them by giving information, they'll trust you.
It doesn't matter what your site is about. From bras to books, you can promote it all. It's just a matter of finding the right product, and watching your commissions grow.

If you don't find a niche market for the product or service you offer, you will most probably fail. Most hopefuls who wish to do business on the Internet often market to everyone they can find with the expectation that everyone will do business with them. This is the same as throwing mud against the wall and hoping some of it will stick. They have not yet found their niche market. When you are considering starting an online company, you want to make sure you find the right product. What do you want to sell. What is your passion. What subject or topic do you have a lot of knowledge about. Let me start by telling you that selling an information product online is easier than selling a service. But, selling a service online makes more money with monthly memberships.
Before you spend all your time working on a website and writing up eBooks, you want to be sure that your customers are going to be interested in what you are selling. Do your market research. Start by seeing how many competitors you have -this is a good sign. Read through newsgroups, discussion boards, and chat rooms and learn about your target market customer base. If you already have an email list, send them a survey to see what they are most interested in.
Most internet marketers preach that there are three reasons why a customer will want to buy your product. Your product has solved a problem for your customer. Your product has made life easier or more comfortable for your customer. You are very passionate about your product and it shows in everything you do.
When researching your niche, you may want to use www.Amazon.com and find the current top sellers. Find out what people are reading about. You will want to research keywords with keyword tools such as www.wordtracker.com. You need to discover which keywords are being searched for frequently.
Doing a little poking around your competitors sites isn't a bad idea. This is one way to come up with ideas on what would make your company different or better. Take a look at their traffic rankings and their related links. By analyzing this information, you can see how many visitors they have each day and how profitable their company is.
Once you find your passion, ask yourself does this serve my customers. You want to provide an excellent service to each and every person that spends their money with you. This cuts down on complaints, bad reputations, and, worse of all, chargeback's. Niche marketing is the key to developing a profitable business that will make you stand out from the crowd. By doing the necessary research and building an informative web site, you will become an expert in your niche marketing field.
Discover how to earn a whopping $4,567,09 per month in your spare time even if nobody joins your MLM business. Forget cold calling. Forget those home meetings. In fact, forget everything you've ever been taught about building a solid income in Network Marketing from the "gurus". http://chrissllvn.GetNetMLMProfits.com

Make Money with Cheap Web Site Traffic
Cheap Web site traffic can be worthless Web site traffic. Did you ever buy one of those $49, 10,000 page view packages that resulted in zero sales? That is a lot of cheap Web site traffic, but certainly it is no way to make money.
It is, however, possible to make money with some cheap Web site traffic packages. You need to adjust your tactics to match the type of traffic. You can't expect to directly make sales with any kind of cheap Web site traffic, but you can give away products.
The key is to figure out what will appeal to the people who are viewing the page and you need to catch their attention quickly. Most of the cheap Web site traffic packages are on sites where the user has some kind of incentive to view pages. Take for example the free online lottery sites where a user is shown your Web page while they are waiting for their next free lottery ticket to be generated.
One such site is Ca$hBreak. By the way, I highly recommend the site if you want to experiment with cheap Web site traffic. They sell 1,000 page views for $20 and they always give you lots more page views than you pay for. The smallest number of page views they have ever delivered for my $20 was 6,000 and one time they gave me over 16,000 page views.
The secret is to use a free giveaway and capture their email address for your mailing list. If you had an E-book on winning the lottery, just think how many people using that site would sign up. There are of course, other possibilities. You just need an attractive giveaway and you need to have your registration form appear high on the page. It also does not hurt to remind the users that they can fill in the form without disturbing their lotto play or whatever else they are doing.
Razor targeted traffic is the Cadillac and always the best, but it is also very expensive. If you can only afford Yugo class cheap Web site traffic then make the best of it by capturing as many addresses as you can for your list and worry about making money later. After all, we know by now that the money is in the list.

Should You Pay for Your Website Hosting?
Whether you're in the beginning stages of website building or you already have a sit up and running, web hosting needs to be on your mind. When you're running or planning to run an online business, whether or not you can reach your customers is going to help in predicting your success. With a good web host, you should be available to your customers and visitors at any time of the day, no matter the traffic. But the prices for web hosting can seem pretty high when you're a fledgling business. And those offers for free web hosting or low cost shared hosting can seem pretty tempting. Should you give in?
What Shared Website Hosting Is
When you see advertisements for shared website hosting, you first want to find out what it is in order to decide if it's right for you. Just like regular website hosting, these companies will help get your website out onto the internet so that it can be seen by your prospective customers. But unlike traditional hosting services, you aren't going to have your own server at the hosting company – you are going to be on a server with other websites, hence the name 'shared.' All of the sites on this server will be sharing bandwidth as well as space on the internet.
The Benefits of Shared and Free Hosting
The truth is that shared hosting is actually a good idea when you're first starting out on the internet. It will give you a chance to broadcast your website without having to pay for your hosting or you might have to pay a small fee. However, as you needs grow, this kind of hosting arrangement just isn't a realistic venture.
Other benefits of these web hosting services is that you can often get guidance on how to build a website and you are often able to conduct business as usual, without any interruptions.
Why Shared/Free Hosting Costs You
Even if you're not paying for these kinds of web hosting services, you might be losing money in another way. Because you are going to limited in the bandwidth and the storage space you can take up on a specific server, you may have troubles with your website from time to time. If you've ever visited a website to see that it was busy and unable to load, this is typically a server issue. And when you are sharing a server with other sites, it's a much more common issue.
When your site isn't able to be seen by your visitors, you might begin to lose business and return visitors. You can be seen as unreliable in your business, which can lead to fewer profits. In addition, features on your website may not always work, causing your visitors to become disappointed with your services in general.
What Happens Next
Since there really isn't anything your server host will be able to do to prevent this from happening, you are at the whim of the internet numbers. When other sites on your server are busy, there is going to be a higher chance of disruption to your website, and vice versa. High traffic days will simply cause your site to show an error message.
Though private web hosting is often quite expensive, it is worth the price. When your visitors are able to visit your website whenever they like without any troubles, you will show your true professionalism to them. You will also have a backup plan in case your server does go down for some reason. Instead of having to vie for internet space, you have your own host to call home.

Why I'm NOT "The King Of Pay Per Clicks"
Back in the Spring of 2003, I was at Joel Christopher's Master List Builder Workshop. Marlon Sanders was up speaking. We had never formally met, but Marlon had obviously read some of the things that I'd written on using pay per click advertising.
Back then, I was heavily into pay per click advertising, and had even done TWO teleseminars with my friend Marty Foley on the topic. We called the teleseminars "Master The Pay Per Clicks." We recorded the teleseminars and sold those recordings for a long time.
I still use the recordings from those teleseminars a few places because much of the information is timeless. Marty and I taught a lot of testing and tracking. What has changed most since then is primarily the rules and policies at the pay per clicks... and which search engines are the most important. We taught solid basics back then, and they still work.
Anyway, as Marlon was doing his presentation, he spotted me in the audience, and used what I did as a simple, proven model of generating a steady flow of traffic to your website and converting it to sales.
Back then, for every $1 that I invested in pay per click traffic, I generated $7 in profit. Not a bad return on investment!
Marlon referred to me as "The King Of Pay Per Clicks" and asked me a few basic questions. I answered them, and Marlon proved his points. Actually, one of the points that I heard Marlon make that day was "Whatever they're buying, I'm Selling!" The lesson that I learned from Marlon there was, sell the items that your customers are looking for rather than what you'd like to sell them.
In that same presentation, Marlon yelled, "Dead Ducks Don't Quack!" I understood his message there to be, if people aren't buying a product, then stop wasting your time and effort trying to sell it to them. People KNOW what they want.
Just those two statements made that entire weekend worth the 13-hour drive from Florida to San Antonio. I drove because I wanted to use the drive time as time to listen to a course that I had recently purchased. I did listen to the audio tapes in that course all the way to, and from, San Antonio... completely absorbing the course in the process.
I absorbed and later applied what Marlon taught during that fateful presentation. I applied what I learned during that time spent in "Automobile U" ... the 26 hours driving back and forth between San Antonio. Both learning experiences shifted my think in major ways.
Later that year, Ramon Williamson coached me and provided me with a lot of much needed direction. When I mentioned to him that Marlon had dubbed me as "The King Of Pay Per Clicks," he asked if I really wanted to be "pigeon holed" by that title.
Ramon asked me to clarify what "I" wanted to be known for on the Internet marketing landscape. Back then, I decided that I really wanted to be a coach and a mentor. That's what I still get the greatest joy from doing online.
So, while I did leverage the fact that an "Internet marketing icon" had dubbed me "The King Of Pay Per Clicks," I also took Ramon's advice to heart and distanced myself from the label.
Today, as back then, I realize that without traffic to your website, your web business CANNOT be successful. You simply need visitors to a webpage who, upon arriving, take the desired action.
Since the need for website traffic is so CRITICAL, back in 2003 I purchased the domain name "Website Traffic PhD." I had no idea what I was going to do with that domain, but I KNEW that not having enough website traffic was what "pained" most webmasters, and that if I could show them how to get an unlimited stream of website traffic, I had a product that they would trip over themselves to get.
Marty Foley and I did discuss creating a joint product that would be an "encyclopedia" of proven methods of generating website traffic. Perhaps because I still hadn't learned enough back then, I didn't tackle a job that I didn't feel totally qualified for.
I did nothing with that domain, and even allowed the name to expire, but later re-registered it.
Back in December 2002, I first met John Reese at a seminar at Hawks Cay, down in The Florida Keys. That was at the same seminar where I first met Ramon Williamson and Marty Foley. Ramon, Marty and I all gave presentations. As time progressed, I got to know John better, and he and Ramon attended the very first seminar that I hosted. Ramon spoke, and John totally riveted attendees during conversations held in the back of the room during breaks (and at meals).
John demonstrated his marketing savvy when in March of 2004, he conducted his sell-out, $4500 per seat, seminar on website traffic tactics. John leveraged that seminar into his Traffic Secrets Course, which made him $1 million in under a DAY!
John validated for me that REALLY studying traffic generation, and then teaching others how to generate website traffics was an excellent use of my time.
Between 1996 and today (11 years) I have studied just about every website traffic generation tactic imaginable. Over time, I learned which ones worked consistently "for me" (long-term) and which ones required the least expense and effort.
Today, after sifting through what must be over 100 possible traffic generation tactics, I have just a few core tactics that I use and teach. I even have my "Top 10 Best Free Traffic Generation Techniques." Those are THE techniques that worked for me yesterday, and will work for me tomorrow, without my having to struggle staying up with the latest search engine tricks.
I'd rather go fishing, or spend time playing with my grandchild, than spend countless hours chasing after the latest, usually very short-lived, search engine tricks. This strategy is so powerful, that on one site that I recently setup and promoted using my "Top 10 Free Traffic Generation Techniques" I generated over 1 million visitors in under 60 days. Needless to say, the site is a success, and will earn me a nice income stream for a very long time.
I like that model... build a website, plug in free traffic, make minor adjustments, and let the site make you money :-)
In case you missed why I'm no longer "The King Of Pay Per Clicks," it's because it takes too much struggle! I prefer the long-term, very effective traffic generation tactics that I share with friends at: http://x-factortraffic.com/
When something works, why change it. When something isn't working, it's insane NOT to change it. Just that simple observation, properly responded to, will make you an online success. Now, it's time for you to do it!

Niche Marketing Success

Niche Marketing
The term' niche marketing' can mean different things to different people but generally it means the developing of websites in sub mainstream market segments to profit from selling products, generating advertising revenue or other forms of website monetization. Another term could be Micro-trend Marketing.
Niche marketing is effective because it allows you to operate in markets that are less competitive, which means you have the potential as a new or seasoned marketer to capitalize on big opportunities with relative ease and far less cost.
Niche marketing can be particularly good for people new to Internet marketing and niche marketing can be the key to riches because it allows you to compete on a level playing field. You don't have to compete with thousands of heavyweight competitors and you can use the experience to develop your skills in the junior divisions before moving into the big leagues.
If you pick the right niche you can build your site, establish yourself as an expert, sell your own products, recommend other people's products - the opportunities can be endless and good money can certainly be made.
The trouble is that as niche marketing grows in popularity, many of the markets we use to call niche markets are now no longer niches at all, and are almost as hard to break in to as mainstream markets in terms of their competitiveness and difficulty to profit from.
The markets that spring to mind are ones like acne, dog training, or anxiety. Markets like these, while they can still be profitable, will not make the average web marketer a lot of money at all. Even the more nichey versions, acne treatments, dog training videos or anxiety relief are often difficult for most people to compete in and make money from.
Then, of course, there is the other extreme. You can go to such tiny niches that they get almost no search volume. You can find "long tail" keywords like 'pug training schools in Atlanta" or "acne treatments that work in 2 days". etc, but the problem with these are a) that they often don't get enough traffic and b) they are so specific that even if you can drive traffic, there isn't much you can do to serve those people except show them ads. Again this can be profitable if you know how to do it but, as I'm sure you are already thinking, there just has to be an easier way - and there is!
The people who make the most money niche marketing are those that know how to find the perfect balance between competition and search volume. Not only that but they know how to analyze the nature of a niche market to determine how much potential it really has before they enter it.
By doing this they find markets that can make them big money very quickly, faster than most people think possible. Then when they do find the markets they will also know how to make sites that will capitalize on them as effectively and efficiently as soon as possible. The result? Big profits, easily, and quickly.
There is no doubt that niche marketing, though often a tricky game, can be wildly profitable when done right. It's just a question of knowing where to look!
